Just purchased my second Versa 4.

I play soccer once per week, & I do strength 3/4 times per week with the odd run.

I track steps, KMS run etc.

Do I need to grant access to physical activity on my phone? What does this do?

Thanks.

Welcome back to the Fitbit community, @SunsetRunner!

No, you don't. This feature allows you to track your steps with your phone if you aren't wearing your Fitbit device for whatever reason and is completely optional. For more on that I'd suggest having a look here:

How do I track my steps with Fitbit with my phone?

Thanks.

I played soccer last night & had granted location access. No steps or kms were tracked, is that because it was looking for my phone? The versa 4 has an in built GPS, so I presume it does not need any location access? Thanks

You're welcome, @SunsetRunner.

If your Versa is running Firmware 194.86 or later, your device is using Dynamic GPS, meaning that GPS tracking is done by the Fitbit app on your phone if nearby, all this to preserve battery on your Versa 4.
If your phone was on the sidelines while you were playing soccer, your Versa 4 should have switched to built-in GPS as the Fitbit app couldn't sense any movement of your phone. Strange thing admittedly if this won't happen.
Please try to reproduce, switching off GPS on your phone before.

Thanks for your reply.

Seems it didn't switch, so I may just turn off the bluetooth when playing &
see what happens.

Thanks again.

Thanks.
Maybe turning off location permissions may trigger it to use the in-built
GPS?

If you're talking about location services permission of the Fitbit app, @SunsetRunner, I wouldn't recommend to do so as this would prevent the app from checking the current time zone and selecting the correct one, at least if you hadn't set that manually.
