Several issues with my Versa 4

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Fitbit has become absolutely worthless. I’ve had my Versa 4 for a little over a year. I’ve watched the schematics of the app go to crap, I rarely get a sleep score, it logs a billion flights of stairs (we don’t have stairs in our house!), and sometimes it doesn’t log my steps correctly. I’ve turned it off, rebooted, followed all of the suggestions that are on the forum, and I’m still having the same issues. It has become a bad product. I will never buy another one. I’m sure Google doesn’t care that it has lost just one customer. Would like to know if I’m alone in this thought, or if others feel the same.

Hello, @PKSC @Madrilena, welcome to the Fitbit Community, and thank you for the steps you've already taken!

I understand how frustrating this situation can be, and I'd be glad to help you.

Please note that many issues stem from pending firmware updates. If your device isn't running the latest firmware version, the likelihood of malfunctions greatly increases.

Please follow the steps described here, and let's work together to get your device back on track!

Agree. I feel like every day I have a new reason that I want to throw it out the window. My Versa 3 was life changing and functional and incredible. I had it for years.

The 4 just makes me mad. I'm not even 6 months into using it. The GPS has dropped out on 6 of my last 9 activities. Any good exercise feelings are totally erased by anger at this terrible little device.

I'm especially mad because it was proposed to me as an "upgrade" after the battery in my 3 blew up. Couldn't be further from the truth.

I agree as well. I’ve had 3 other Fitbits and all were great but this versa 4 has not been worth it. I know it was suggested that I update it but it’s not letting me update. I’ve tried several times and it always says it cannot locate my device.  Help!

I can update on my android phone but not my iPad. I don’t have any problems updating any apps on my iPad, and it’s not that old, but iPad app can’t “find” my Versa 4. I agree with all of replies to my post. I’ve been a Fitbit user for 10 years. Only had problems in the past year.

I had a Versa 3 that decided to go belly up over the weekend. I received a Versa 4 last July, but put it in storage until last night. So far, I have spent last night and today trying to come up with solutions for lack of coverage and for data errors.

Part of what I am finding is still an ongoing issue with the Android and IOS apps and how they communicate with the server. I have reported the issue multiple times and showed how to replicate the issue last fall, but the issue still persists. In a nutshell, if I set my distance goal to 5 miles in the Android app and go to my Ipad and check the distance goal, it shows 3.1 miles which is what you would see when converting 5 miles to Kilometers, 5 x 0.62 = 3.1. The IPad app is assuming the data is kilometers. If I set the distance goal to 5 miles using the IPad and go look at the Android app, it shows 8.06 miles. Again the IPad is converting to Kilometers: 5/0.62 = 8.06. As such, I only use the Android to send/receive data from the Versa 4. Yes, units in both apps are set to feet/miles.

One of the first things I noticed was while using the “Sundial” clock face was the distance is in Km, but all the other tiles show miles for distance. I was not able to find anything that would cause that. Another annoying thing is there is no “hourly get moving step status” or how many hours have been completed. One has to go open the phone app to see if an hour has been completed.

I keep finding more and more things that make me completely disappointed with this Versa 4, and it is only day one. After reading about several people having unsolved issues, it is very clear to me that Google is not interested in fixing anything.

Several days ago my Versa stopped logging steps or stairs and heartbeat.   I finally logged into Google to do research and got it going well, but now, its completely dead. It was at 65% charged when this happened.

O.K. Today is day three of trying to use the Versa 4 and have found more issues. Some of which others have found.

Yesterday, I was in my morning exercise routine. I started the Elliptical routine manually on the tracker and the time started. I was up to 25 minutes which was my limit for the first set. When I went to pause the exercise on the tracker, it had already stopped and reverted to the clock. I started the tracker again and this time glanced occasionally to see if it was still recording. After 5 minutes a banner was on the tracker: Do you want to stop? No/Yes, with Yes highlighted. Today, the same issue happened: The tracker stopped recording the exercise and went to the clock. When I restarted, five minutes later, the “Do you want to stop?” banner appeared. Without actually pressing the “No”, I am sure the tracker would have timed out the exercise and went back to the clock. No wonder folks are not seeing their exercises recorded.

When I looked at my exercise history in the Android App, the tracker stopped recording the first session at exactly 15 minutes both yesterday and today, even though this was a manual start and not an auto start/stop.

Is there supposed to be an update? I only got the Versa 4 5 weeks ago but decided to go back to my Versa 3 today. The 4 is not tracking floors or higher heart rates during exercise. It's very frustrating! I was hoping there was an update to help it!

Funny people say it is overtracking floors. I have a lot of floors and am constantly up and down. Previous Fitbits have been off one way or the other, but much closer.  The Versa 4 is hardly tracking any of the floors. 1 for 10, just about.

I wish I could help you! Every time I have an issue, an administrator tells me to sync with my phone, make sure I have the latest update, turn off and reboot the Fitbit, etc. I have done all of these things and still have issues with my device. You may want to start a new thread and ask the questions again to see if other Fitbit users have been able to address the same issues. Good luck!
