Update killed my versa

The latest update there was has essentially killed my Versa4. It will not hold a charge for more than 12 hours, it does not sync with my phone, it does not track my sleep it does not read my heart rate and my steps counter makes it look like I’ve run a marathon in the first hour of the day. The other day it said 57000 steps and that’s not bad for a person who just had ankle surgery.it counts even when I’m not moving!

i called support for help and they would not take ownership that the update caused this and all they did was send me a discount code to buy a new Fitbit. I’m very frustrated!

I’ve had a Fitbit for several years and I won’t be buying another!

Anyone else have this same experience with the latest update?

I might as well chime in. I fell for it a couple of days ago... the app said there was a new version. I made the fatal mistake to update. I now have a versa 4 that all I can do is reset, reboot, with logos (inverted and not) and a red X. Never any data on screen. I used it for a watch and to let me know what I had done. I have sync'd the app, I have reloaded the app, I rebooted phone. I have talked to support to run through options. I now have a worthless VERSA 4 because Google/Fitbit can't seem to get the upgrade process working correctly. I was offered a whole 35% off to buy a new Versa 4. The Versa 4 is nearly $200. The fact that Google doesn't cover problems they caused is outrageous. The Versa 4 worked perfectly two days ago.

A bit of an update - it finally reset properly and allowed me to attach it to an android tablet I had with bluetooth. It supposedly updated firmware and starting sort of working. The steps weren't right and finally the watch just went to the Fitbit logo and that was it. I now can go through the factory reset easier, but the watch still glitches and goes back to the logo after some amount of time. Full charge, etc, so there is something that gets overwritten with the update that just doesn't work properly.

Many of us are having the same issue!! I am also affected and very annoyed. Hope they take responsibility and fix their problem. I will never buy another Fitbit and I know most of us affected won’t either. Great way for them to lose a lot of customers…

I've had my Versa 4 since 2022 and have not have any problems with it. This update fried everything. It won't work at all.

got a question for all the people that are having the versa 4 update issues. I have removed the fitbit application and rebooted the phone. I get a pop up screen Fitbit Versa 4 - Tap to setup this device - picture of device - and a blue set Up button even though I have uninstalled the program. This means that there is a piece of code that is running in the background at startup that was not removed when the fitbit app was uninstalled. This could be what was left behind that could be affecting adding the versa 4 getting added back in. Long shot, but I feel it shouldn't be there until the app is reinstalled and you try to add device again.

Are any of you having the same pop up on your phone screen (I have a S22 latest update phone)?

I had same problems. I went to fitbit.com and told support I had to reset my Versa 4 and they sent me a code. I restarted it and fixed all the problem I've been having. Or wouldn't do anything for the last 4 days.

Yes, I actually went to Fitbit.com and told support I had to set up my
Versa 4 and they sent me a code and mine is working again. It was out for 4
days before I asked support. It's with a try.

I can call and ask for it, but what type of code was it? Something you had to do in the app? I don't have anything on the versa 4 other than flashing icons.

I went through chat support and asked for the code and all they offered was to send the coupon code for a discount off a new Fitbit… didn’t understand what I meant about a code for a fix.

that is what I am hoping to find out about also. The discount code is not the solution. If I can't fix the one they broke, then I will buy one off Amazon and get a 3 year warranty to cover any fatal flaws from firmware things. I would rather use the one I had of course.

Yes I completely agree with you! I’ve used a Fitbit for nearly 8 years now but would never buy another one. Mine just doesn’t record exercises I’ve set on the watch and the cardio load and HR monitor are rubbish now. I also tried to get support from the Fitbit team and they did nothing but patronise me. Terrible customer service and terrible product since the updates!

Oops looks like I am not the only one with problems! My Versa 4 has been working perfectly well upto last week when I got a message it needed to be updated. New version 61.20001.214.24. Now the unit will not charge to 100% after 6 hrs in the charger it still only says 77%. Before if would charge from 5%-100 in no more than a few hours. One walk in the mountain and it is on 5 %. It is impossible to reset to factory settings. Just get a large red X on the screen. The map no longer shows up after a hike. I am not happy. I want to reset to the last version that worked just fine. Any ideas of how to do this?

there is no known way to truly fix this issue other than the company coming out with probably an app update and a firmware upgrade. I have been able to factory reset a couple of times and get it back to sort of working. It eventually glitches (no step updates, etc) and I am back to something that is of no use to me. Of course, I am being told that it must be my problem and the watch must be bad. It worked perfectly well last Thursday until I did this update. Now it is a very small paperweight.

My Versa 4 died over the course of 1 week. Same as most people here reported.

  • started not holding a charge for even a full day
  • charging to full was inaccurate after removing from charger
  • Tried: Shutdown. Reset. Disconnect & Reconnect from account.

It worked while sitting on the charger but now, it won’t even boot up.

This is exactly what happened to me. Lost charge now not working after my update. Guess I’ll try and contact someone about that cote to reset it. Frustrating for sure!

let us know if there is some code to reset. Far as I know, the only code is for coupon for 35% off to buy a new one from Google Store.

My update is not any better, All functions quit working except the watch. The last charge was yesterday and lasted about 8 hours. I put it on the charger this morning and I can’t even get my Versa to charge. It now does not turn on.

i guess it is time to move onto an Apple Watch!
