Whenever we take a walk I can't figure out how much time I was walking. Any suggestions would be great.

If you manually start and stop an exercise, then you can see the stats in progress. Then when you stop it, it lets you review it, like average and max heart rate, and also has the time spent in the exercise. You can also see this data for both autodetect and manual exercise in the phone app. But on the watch you can only see the data when you manually start/stop an exercise, I think. Otherwise, once you navigate out of the exercise on the watch, you can see the total active minutes and steps and whatnot in the watch, but not for a particular exercise. The phone app (and your FitBit account) does keep all the history for particular exercise stretches, so you can always review it there. Certain watch faces also let you see exercise stats in progress (you just tap and it cycles what stat it shows, including time in the exercise). But again if you manually start the exercise then you always have access to these stats while the exercise is in progress, without any particular watch face.
In the FitBit app you can set how long before FitBit detects specific activities. The default varies between activities. I think for walk, the default is 10 min (so at that time, it would start logging the walk, including the 10 minutes walked). You can set the time for autodetect for several types of activities. But I usually manually start an active session/exercise because then I don't have to go into the phone app to change the type of activity (from bike ride to lawn mowing for example). Plus if you start it manually, you have the option to have GPS or not (it is a setting in the watch). With autodetect it does not add GPS tracking because it would waste too much battery if GPS tracking turns on every time the watch thinks you are walking or running for exercise (as opposed to rushing to catch a bus). So if you really like to see how many minutes you've been walking while still walking, then I recommend manually starting (navigate to the exercise app and select the particular activity). Then it will start timing the activity and you can take a look at the stats including time while you walk.
