Versa 4 battery draining quickly after the update

Completed the update on 8/26/24 since the update the battery only lasts 5 hours or less. I have tried the steps found in the forums battery will barely last 5 hours. Any thoughts?

Hi there, @MzPatch. It's nice to see you around the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I'm sorry to hear that the battery of your Versa 4 is draining quickly. I understand your concern, I will do my best to help you with this!

Since you mentioned that this started happening after the update, please try to logout of the Fitbit app and swipe off the active face on your phone and turn off the phone's Bluetooth, then hold the watch button for 10 seconds till it vibrates and the logo appears and wait for it to start. In this disassociated state the battery should last as before.

Nevertheless, please bear in mind that as all rechargeable batteries age, they deteriorate to some extent and an older device will need to be charged more often than a new one. The best way of minimizing this effect is to avoid deep discharges of the battery. To maximize the overall life of your Fitbit device's battery, ideally keep it between 20-80%.  Many people find that a daily battery boost works best ( e.g. giving it a 15 minutes charge while you are showering in the morning).

Using features such as always-on display and GPS require more frequent charging. If you turn on the always-on display, your Versa 4 will have a battery life of up to 3 days and if you also use built-in GPS continuously it'll have a battery life of up to 12 hours. Please find below some tips to best charge Fitbit devices:

  • Use only genuine Fitbit charging cables
  • Use only UL-certified wall chargers
  • Avoid USB battery packs
  • Charge at room temperature

For charging purposes, your charging cable or your base station can be plugged into any USB power source, including but not limited to:

  • A computer
  • A Wall A/C to USB adapter, commonly found with smartphones
  • A DC to USB adapter (vehicle power port)

I have the same trouble. Many users may have the same problem. I think fitbit needs to make official announcement.

When  I hold the button for 10 seconds logo flashes and I get a red X.

Likewise I have the same issue as the original poster. My watch updated itself and had a healthy battery beforehand, now it doesn't last more than a few hours whereas before it lasted almost a week. 

I've factory reset the watch twice and it demands the update every time. I'm under the impression that you cannot turn off the Bluetooth on a versa 4 watch. 

I've removed all the superfluous software and watch faces but still no joy. 

When I do charge the watch, it gets hot rapidly and I am using a certified wall charger and the correct cable. 

After reading this forum, I seriously believe Fitbit have caused an issue with the software update, maybe an over running process causing the drain.

My Fitbit versa 4 is also draining very fast since the update. Put it on overnight in sleep mode to get a better idea of the time length. 10pm to 12:51am. 

 

I did all of the forum steps as well. If I have to have the Bluetooth off,what's the point of having the watch.

I've tried this 3 times and I have had the same result. I've removed any superfluous software and watch faces, so that it's in it minimal form. The result is a very rapidly discharging battery. Maybe a few hours. Previously the watch lasted in excess of 5 days. I'm an electronic engineer and I understand that batteries degrade over a period of time but this has been catastrophic. From 5 days to 2 hours is unacceptable for a watch that is only 14 months old. I've had a Samsung Gear S2 that's nearly 8 years old still with a good battery. Is there an email or customer service point where I can go to. I liked the watch with its multiple functions but if they only last no more that 18 months then you have a poor product in the long term.

I contacted customer support. They haven't heard anything related to the update causing issues with the watch. They pulled my data and saw the rapid decline in battery life. I had to send them a copy of my receipt and they are supposed to be sending me a new one. I emailed them back today to see if they received my receipt,but I haven't heard anything back from support, yet. I'll reach out, again, tomorrow.

Battery would use about 8% per day before the update and now uses about 30% per day.  Fitbit should test their updates more thoroughly.  My wife and I have own several devices and almost all of the issues have happened with a new update.

Mine is also the same as all the posts mentioned and I’ve changed nothing. I charged at home with the Fitbit charger and now it’s 8% left. 

I’ve had my Fitbit a little over a year.

I called Fitbit tech support. I did all the recommendations on the forums. Fitbit said the watch need to be replaced.  My factory warranty was expired. However, I had purchased the extended warranty and had the Fitbit replaced. My Fitbits have always died just after the factory warranty. I always by the extended warranty. You end up paying about $70 between the warranty and the deductible it's work it.
