Versa 4 is tracking too many floors

I am being awarded for very high stairs count; I sometimes wake up with 10 floors already logged. This outstanding error is making me doubt the accuracy of all the readings of my watch and the waste of money to buy it. My weekly floor goal is over 1000% complete

Hi there, @JIMMUR. Thanks for stopping by in the Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post about the inconvenience with your Versa 4. I understand how you must be feeling.

Please note that your Fitbit device may give you credit for extra floors for a variety of reasons. Devices may track floors while doing everyday tasks such as opening doors, driving, or riding elevators or escalators, or from abrupt weather and atmospheric pressure changes. Exposure to excess moisture can also result in extra floors. For more information, see Why does my Fitbit device count extra floors? You can also find more information about tracking activity in this help article How does my Fitbit device calculate my daily activity?

Said that, here are some of the possible causes for this inaccuracy:

  • The Versa 4 may track floors while driving (as you mentioned in your post), on an elevator or in an escalator.
  • Due to the Versa 4 is a wristband device, it may track floors while opening doors, from a weather change, or from a gust of wind.

I contacted Fitbit support, they told me to just disconnect the device from my account and re-connect it. As I did that, without leaving the room I was in, the fitbit added a floor to my count. I told this to the person assisting and they said I just need to monitor it for a few days to see if it still happens. I asked if sitting in the same chair while I disconnected and reconnected the device and a floor being added without moving didn't count. Ridiculous. We need to make a device that actually does what it is supposed to, or at least have an actual way of fixing the devices with updates. By looking through forums it seems this has been an ongoing issue for a very long time.

Also worth noting that my fitbit logged 147 floors one day when I probably actually walked 15 MAX (if even that many on that given day due to work).
