Versa 4 lost steps after resetting it

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I was able to reset my fitbit following all of the help on this forum. However, it shows 54 steps for yesterday and there was over 12,000 and it shows 0 for today. Most frustrating is that I lost my consecutive day step streak that was nearing 300. I am most upset about this. Is there anyway to get this data back? It is good through Thursday, but I lost Friday.

Hi @DuckFan22 - a factory reset deletes all data from the watch  if it wasn't uploaded by a sync first.

Hi there, @DuckFan22. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for for the details provided in your post about the issue with your Versa 4. I understand how you must be feeling.

As @Guy_ has mentioned, if you perform a factory reset you need to take into consideration that a factory reset deletes any stored data, which includes all data that hasn't synced to your Fitbit account, your applications, alarms, etc.

While reading your post I was wondering if you synced your Versa 4 before Friday? If you didn't sync before Friday and then you went ahead and performed either a restart or factory reset, please note what happened to you is an expected behavior. You should have logged in to sync the Versa 4 before you began wearing it.

If you remember the exact amount of steps or the name of the activity you performed, you can try manually logging the activity. To get more information about this, check the article Can I add an activity manually to the Fitbit app?

I was able to reset my Fitbit after following suggestions on the forum. This included turning my phone off and on - did not help, resetting the fitbit by holding down the button on the side for 10 seconds, did not work, and then by deleting my app off of my phone and starting again. Additionally, I turned the bluetooth off, removed my Versa 4 from the bluetooth and started all over again. After about 30 minutes I was able to restart and it finally synced. Not sure which one worked because nothing worked to begin with but after doing all of those things I finally got it to reset.

As for losing my steps, someone else had a post in here on how to manually add steps and I was able to recapture my steps and my consecutive day streak.

I just recently learned how to do this as well. On your fitbit app on your phone go down to the daily exercise tab - I put it in a green square below and click on the + button. Once on the next screen (it may tell you that you need to enable background refresh (you do not) you will see two tabs at the top - one says track and the other says log. Tap on the log side, choose your type of exercise (for me I chose walk) and it takes you to the next screen which allows you to log your exercise. Click on "starts" and you can choose your day and tie and log your steps. This will allow you to go back and add your steps on the appropriate day(s) so you do not lose your step streak. I had to adjust for two days and had no problem doing it. I kept my streak alive and everything is now working fine.
