I had to restart my Versa 4 today because it wasn’t syncing with my iPhone app anymore (yes, I tried closing the app and I also tried turning Bluetooth on and off on my phone, but neither helped so I went for the reboot). This is the first time I have had to do this since I got the Versa 4 for Christmas, but I had done it for my old Versa 2 in the past a few times and never had an issue with losing data. However, today I lost approximately 6300 steps (8900 to 2650) after rebooting! That should not happen! Is there a way to recover my steps and activity?
Moderator Edit: Clarified subject
Thus just happened to me as well. Versa 4 stopped syncing, tried restarting my phone, Uninstalled the app, nothing worked. Had to reboot (like I had done before on versa 2 and charge) and when it came back online, I lost over 3k steps!
Same thing has happened to me. Lost 6.3k steps and I’ve only had the device since Xmas. I raised this on the chat service and they said there is no way to recover the lost steps, and they can’t be added manually.
disappointed tbh and I know this is petty, but I’m considering returning my watch to Amazon and just letting my iPhone count my steps again.
surely something can be done? Even if it’s to add a way to manually add steps in a future update
Literally just happened to me. I was at 8000 steps exactly. It said I hadn't synced since last night so I tried to do it. No luck. Closed the app and tried again...nothing. Reset my versa 4 and it went from 8000 to 618. I am pissed. On top of that, my battery went from 63% to 10%. I couldn't believe it. So now I have to charge it, and wonder what the hell happened from a single reset
I’m glad I’m not the only one. Today, I noticed my Fitbit refused to charge. It kept saying it was 81% and charging; an hour later, still at 81%. I received no reminders to move today. And I tried every troubleshooting method possible to get it to sync to my iPhone like I usually do. As a last resort, I restarted my Fitbit because the help topic states that restarting will NOT delete data on the device. That was a lie. I lost 10,436 steps and 16 flights of stairs. Good job, Fitbit …
Same thing happened to me today. Versa 4 didn't sync, tried all the usual things, nothing worked. Did a reset and lost 11,000 steps. Wiped them out from the watch too. Just bought this 2 months ago after Charge 4 suddenly started draining battery in less than one hour. This will be my last Fitbit. Going with Apple or Samsung when this one dies, which based on recent history probably won't be too long.
I’m sorry this happened to you. Same thing happened to me today. I had more than 8k steps and had just completed a HIIT workout. Super frustrated. I purchased a Fitbit Versa2 when they first came out and was happy with it for almost 4 years when I decided to upgrade to the Versa4 the week they were released. Sadly, I have found the Versa4 software to be glitchy and inconsistent. I never lost data with my Versa2 and reading how many others have experienced this problem with Versa4 makes me wonder if there is a software bug that can’t be remedied.
Best AnswerSame happened to me. If you go to the settings on the watch and then go to "shut down" it states you will lose data and to save before shutting down. Of course that is the problem, you can't save/sync. The app fix states the fix is to hold down the button for 30 seconds to reset and data will not be lost. Wrong! Deleted all data. Not a happy camper. If you have to lose the data to make the thing sync then say so and do not lead people astray by putting out incorrect info. Lost 14148 steps, 6.31 miles, 1 floor, 4588 cals, 330 active zone minutes, 6 of 9 hours activity. Apparently no way to enter it back in. The Premium that I pay for becomes worthless when large amounts of data are lost. I guess I will drop that.
Came to this site for answer on lost data after unable to sync/restart my Versa 4. Unfortunately, it seems that others have had SAME problem with NO success in data recovery. I'm not a happy camper or Versa owner at this time. Hopefully I won't have a repeat experience.
