Versa 4 new dashboard

My versa 4 dashboard updated yesterday to a new format. It is awful. It's like it is set out for a primary school child! Huge lettering and numbers, I can't see the whole dashboard in one glance, dreadful grey lettering rather than user friendly colour coding ..... Can I reset it to the old style dashboard? Please!!

Welcome back to the Fitbit community, @Jaah52!

Sad to hear about your initial impressions of the new Fitbit app. Such massive changes in design indeed need time to get settled in. To get you accustomed to the new design as comfortably as possible, please have a look here:

Hi @Jaah52 - you can see other people's comments in the Android and iOS app forums. Currently there is no official way of going back to the previous version unfortunately.

I agree with you, I’m most disgusted that Fitbit seem to think this is a improvement and they only respond by saying, oh have a look at this… you will get used to it…

no we won’t!!! Put it back to how it was and whilst you are at it please add in the option for Dark Mode.. which is something that lots of us have asked for! Not this rubbish..

if it doesn’t change back I won’t bother with the app at all and I’m not going to be alone with this decision! 😞😡

This isn't just an "upgrade" but rather a rewrite to integrate the application into the Google eco-system.  They will make updates and upgrades (like adding dark mode), but there is no shot they are going to give up the "Material" design schema that is across basically all Google products, and they are not going to "go back" to the old software that was not integrated.

I agree. I cannot remove the calorie count or make it one of the smaller icons on the page. I’m more interested in my step count and not how many calories I have burned. Also if you get your 10,000 steps or more, the last number is on a second line. That doesn’t make sense. And like you’re saying, aesthetically speaking, it’s just ugly. another thing that is sad is that it does not celebrate when you get your 10,000 steps. Are used to enjoy watching the fireworks or color changes.

Thie change in the new app is an example of "FIXING something that IS NOT BROKEN! Most developers offer the original or “traditional view" giving the customer a choice of keeping the same view, or switching to the new one, Today more and more companies are DECIDING what is best for their customers instead of providing options for their customers!

lTHE MAIN FITBIT APP PROBLEMS:

1. No choice in changing the BACKGROUND!
An all WHITE background causes a lot of glare, which is not healthy for maintaining good eyesight,
14+ Million Americans have problems with their vision and the number is actually higher as an excessive amount of time is spent looking at screens everyday.  A darker background with lighter text actually allows for more efficient for viewing.

2. All the stats are the same large size which necessitates excessive scrolling. No longer can view your stats on one page! Only the main focus areas need to be larger at the top of the screen! (The way it was before)!

3. A lot of time is required to set up and learn the new app. It is unacceptable and inappropriate to tell customers to “GET USED TO IT!

4. Limited choices for instructing the watch (Versa 4 as an example) to provide adequate vibration and splash screens when goals are achieved

5.  Fitbit clock backgrounds are not compatible when upgrading to the next model.

I will gladly spend the time researching the purchase of a another fitness product with a user-friendly app
instead of being required to learn your app that you decided was best for every  Fitbit user!

Only came here to say I am very dissapointed in Fitbit.

After being a user   for almost 4 years now (charge, versa, sense2) I moved to Garmin after this recent update.

I also saw all the reviews on Google Play it went down to 2.8 all because of the update. Such a wrong move.

These changes are not something to just get used to.  They take away functions we've relied on for motivation and accurate tracking.  I don't know how far I actually ran, because the app gives me three or four different reports.  I can't see my heart rate in real time on the app.  I can't see how much juice my battery has.

Losing functions is not something "to get used to". Fitbit has destroyed the value of the product I paid for.

So how is the Garmin? I really liked my Versa 2 and 3 and my current Versa
4 seems to be a downgrade. Add the “updated” appalling Fitbit app as well
as FitBit joining with Google and constantly asking for you to sign in
with Google is way over the top for me! Google already owns much of our
lives as it is and I don’t need them to also become a part of my fitness
life!! LOL. I used to have a Garmin GPS in my car before I updated to a
decent Smartphone. The Garmin was user-friendly, so hopefully it’s is a
user-friendly Fitness device also. Let us know the effectiveness of the
Garmin and the model of you are using.

My husband and son both have a gamin and are really pleased with it. I upgraded to versa 4 after my versa 3 died. Sticking with familiarity but it's no better than the v3. I'm still within warranty and I think it's going back to be replaced by Garmin. The new dashboard upgrade is appalling and is the final straw!

  1. Thank you for this! I also upgraded to Versa 4 from a Versa 2 and the features of V 2 were better. (The only improvement was the watchband). This weekend I was on a mini vacation and Fitbit didn’t record HOURS of my sleep after I got up for a bathroom break. I recently completed a detox diet and lost 20 pounds to get back to health after a year of intense chemo/radiation treatments. I’m cancer free and my Fitbit was helping me to monitor and readjust my diet/lifestyle!  Since the new app and switch-over to Google it’s giving me incorrect info for exercise, sleep, steps, zone minutes, etc, and it no longer syncs with my Renpho scale!! Every day it's something! I also may still have my Versa 4 under warranty, and your idea to return it for a Garmin is a GREAT suggestion! I was getting discouraged, so THANK YOU for a positive solution that won’t take up a lot of my time and mental energy!
