Versa 4 not tracking exercise mileage

When I use the exercise app (mainly for mt. biking) I open the app on my phone, wait for it the tell me the GPS is connected, then push "start". But 9 times out of 10 when I look at it after the ride it shows only time ridden, the mileage says zero. Sometimes the app just seems to shut down and nothing is recorded. On rare occasions it actually works. The phone (Samsung A13, Android) is either in my back pocket or in my hydration pack on my back, so distance to the watch shouldn't be the issue. And the Versa 4 has an onboard gos anyway, doesn't it?

If anyone has a clue how to fix this that would be cool.

My Versa 2 always worked properly with the exercise app. Until it's waterproofing failed and it died 😞  It also allowed me to use the Tides watchface which is blocked on the 4, but that's a different discussion 🙂

Thanks.

My problem is that 90% of the time my Versa 4 won’t connect to GPS at all.  If it is cloudy, I expect that, but on a clear day, that sucks.  My iPhone always connects to GPS.  What good is an exercise tracker if it doesn’t track your exercise????

Clouds shouldn't affect the GPS connection;  heavy rain might? (Recalling how my old TV dish would drop out during hard rain). Something's off there, maybe do a full reset on the watch and see if that improves?

Mine seems to connect fine but but I rarely get any milage data. Maybe I need to try a reset too....

I Just did a reset to my V4 and then went outside and it connected with the GPS, so hopefully that is all that it needed. I will give it a test tomorrow on my bike ride.
