My Versa will not track mileage as I walk around the house or when I go on walks outside. What's weird is that it will count steps, and it will count my distance when RUNNING (it won't track it otherwise). I have tried resetting my Fitbit, updating the GPS tracker, disconnecting and reconnecting Bluetooth, reinstalling the app, you name it, but none of it is working. Does anyone know of any way to fix this?

I manually adjusted stride length for walking, which was blank . Entered 30 and it filled in the rest . That worked . Walk just completed now had pace and distance . Need to check for accuracy next, as well as if it also now works on elliptical .
Best AnswerI'm not sure if you are the fitbit fix-it person but I've had the same issue as these persons for about a week. Unless I am doing a specific recorded activity (I run and walk), fitbit does not track any distance. For instance today I walked my dog and got 0 miles. I then used "walk" and did a 1+ mile walk with some weights. I then ran about 2.9 miles on the fitbit "Run" app. My total distance for the two recorded events was 4.27 miles. I then, not using any specific app, walked my dog another .5 to .7 miles, and fitbit did not record any distance at all. It is still at 4.27 miles.
I have reset several times, checked my GPS, which clearly is working because it works for my recorded exercise. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Mine is still doing the same, or it shorts my walks by quite a bit . I know the course I walk is 3.1 miles and it records 2.6. The versa 4 is basically useless for me. My only advice is stick with Apple Watch.
Best AnswerI had the same problem with my Versa 4–tracked steps, but not distance beginning 1st week of 07/24.
spent HOURS on phone with customer service in Columbia—3 dif reps—no joy
finally got a refurbished one yesterday (still in warranty), added new device, and went for a test walk. Guess what? Steps, but NO DISTANCE!
while it doesn’t help the problem, glad I saw I am not the only one with this issue. Fitbit reps had me convinced I was doing something wrong. Apple Watch here I come…
Re: Verse 4 —no distance tracked anymore. After reading further comments, I manually entered stride length. Does work, but obviously not very accurate.
click on exercise, 3 dots, activity, stride length (turn off auto) then reset for “walk”
Best AnswerIt’s just crazy that the most important feature doesn’t work and they get away with it.

Getting exactly same issue all of a sudden 6th of August 2024.
I've tried shutdown and back on again and still doing the same issue.
I don't want to do a factory reset. Think it's quite a serious bug happening. Really annoying.
I’m having the same issue even after the update completed yesterday 8/17/24. The only way Versa 4 will track walking distance is by manually setting the stride length which isn’t very accurate and gives you additional steps when not actually walking around.
Best AnswerHi I have the same thing with my Charge 4 which I replaced recently, it will log steps but not distance unless I use the exercise feature
Best AnswerTotally agree! This whole fox of adjusting your stride length is a notch job way of fixing it. Luckily I just bought my Versa 4 ( my versa 3 died last week!) so I’m going to send it back and just get a garmin or something. Looking at some of the other forums, it seems like Fitbit is a bit rubbish since Google took over.
Best AnswerI’m unable to ask a question so I’ll onto this one.
4 days ago my tracker and app aren’t showing the same steps. The app is higher than watch, which I think is odd. Starts slowing right now I’m over 50 apart but my end of day it’s over 1200.i don’t know which is the accurate count. My stats of course take the app count.
I have extended warranty so might take it back and replace it.
Best AnswerSame exact thing is happening to my versa 4 and my husband’s versa 4. Won’t track walking exercise. Just stays at a zero pace and doesn’t track mileage but it will track for the running exercise. We’ll try to adjust the stride length as the forum is suggesting and see if that works.

Best AnswerUpdate from my earlier post... I turned off the automatic stride length as recommended and manually changed my walking stride to 26 inches (I'm 5'4" tall) and it's working again! I just went for a little walk and it calculated my pace and my mileage correctly. Hope this helps someone out there!
