Versa 4 notification issues

My mam's Versa 4 has a strange issue. it's paired with a pixel 8 phone and now whenever she gets an notification it does come on her watch but she can't read it.
for example if I send her a WhatsApp, it will show the WhatsApp symbol with my name but there's no way of reading the actual message and she has to use her phone to read it

I'm sorry to hear that your mom's Versa 4 is not receiving the notifications preview.  

 Please verify the settings in each app your mom wants to receive notifications from: 

On her phone tap settings / Apps & notifications / Notifications / Notifications on lock screen.

Make sure the Fitbit app can run in the background on her phone. For more information, see What should I know about using the Fitbit app on my Android phone?

Please confirm if the phone, app, and Versa 4 are up-to-date, and try to restart the watch and your mom's phone, please.

Both are up to date, both been restarted, still the same issue.

She can see she has a notication and quick replies are there but it just says who the notification is from and wont let her read it
