Versa 4 randomly pausing during runs?

Has anyone else had or solved this issue?

I've gotten back into trail running now that the weather is nice, but on every run this week, at least once or more when checking my pace I noticed my fitbit has paused the exercise and asks "Resume this exercise?" Or "End this exercise?" If it's been paused for a while. Extremely annoying.

I don't think there's anything touching the touch screen to pause it so I'm not sure what to do. I'd really like a more accurate picture of my runs to track progress 😕

Hello @athanwago welcome to the Fitbit community!

I am sorry to hear that your device is pausing your workouts without your say so, I get how important it is to track every minute of your exercise.

For a bit more info, on the article "How do I track my workouts with my Fitbit device and Google Pixel Watch" you can learn more about the Auto-pause function which was originally designed for if you need to be stationary for any reason.

But no worries you can actually turn this feature off, the instructions are also found in the same article, but you can follow these steps:

  1. On your device, open the Exercise app then > Run

  2. Swipe up to open the exercise settings.

  3. In the "Auto-pause" section, tap the Switch to turn on the setting.

  4. Swipe down to return to the exercise screen, then tap Play to start the workout.

the only bad workout is the one that didn't happen

You actually cannot stop the watch from stopping while you are still moving. If you don't feel the vibration, which happens a lot when you are vigorously walking in my case, it stops my session less than a mile into my normal multiple mile daily walk. There is no reason I need to ask if I want to stop my session when I am still vigorously walking. I could understand it if I had stopped moving, but that has never been the case when this has happened. I have tried multiple troubleshooting steps that have been recommended, but it has continued over years at this point. It is beyond frustrating to have to keep checking to make sure my session is being recorded to get accurate results throughout my walks. Why can this issue not actually be resolved?
