did this just start or is it a result of updating through the app? If the button stopped working by itself, it could simply be a bit of dirt/dust has gotten inside the button. I would suggest compressed air (one of those aerosol can for computers and such) to see if if can be blown out to fix.
If it is the update issue, then I would ask if there is any screen display such as the Fitbit logo.
