Versa 4 stopped tracking my rides

Hi

not sure if this is a problem, but my Versa stopped tracking my cycle yesterday, on both rides.

First one in the morning got 24 minutes into the cycle and it stopped tracking, no feedback from the watch, just checked on the app when I got to work to find it had stopped.

On the ride home, same thing, 20 minutes in and toys out the pram as they say, no feedback, just found out when I got home and wanted to stop the exercise.

i have since rebooted the phone and the watch, but won't be able to check until later this week, exercise wise.

I've checked the settings and have now turned off the option to auto-stop an exercise, but just wanted to check in and see if this is the right option to choose?

thanks

OK, Update, did some walking over the weekend and tested this further, one walk was fine, stayed on for all the walk and never missed a beat.

my other walk the watch tracked was a shorter walk, but it dropped off after 24 minutes.

is there any way to see what the watch is doing when it drops off? any diagnostics I can perform?

Ok, so on my cycle to work this morning my fitbit dropped the exercise it was performing, and my phone recorded the exercise.

I wonder if the phone recognising the exercise has prompted the watch to turn off what it was doing? going to test this on the way home, by turning off my phone.

we shall see

Hi, after some working this out, i've noticed that the phone will pickup the exercise, must be an update that it automatically starts when it discovers you walking.  I have my Versa turned off for recognising that you have started and I have a record of the short walk i did.

I'm going to ask another question to see if we can turn that off. as I think this activity is actually what's stopping the Versa from tracking the ride.

disconnecting my phone, or turning it off and the versa works perfectly. with the phone connected and in my pocket, the versa stops tracking, the phone starts a new one, and if I stop for a few minutes, it ends, and then picks up again with a new exercise.

try it yourself and see if that's right

here's the reply from the other question i raised in the android forum, tells you how to turn off the automated recognition of exercise.
