Versa 4 stopped working after getting wet

My phone got submerged in water and was working when I got it out but after recharging it over night it won’t recognize the phone app. My phone says it is connected to the Versa 4 but the watch won’t progress past the screen asking me to download the app.  To be exact it was in my pocket and wet through a wash cycle. Is this a sign my Fitbit is a goner????

Edit: Never mind… I was able to get the phone and Versa 4 to sync by completing deleting the device and re-adding it on my phone.

Hi @Verse4GotWet - it seems the watch did a factory reset, this is not normal, unless somehow you instigated it when drying.

But as a precaution make sure it doesn't get hot when charging the next free times or when wearing it which can happen if water got inside. That can be dangerous.

If other strange behaviours occur be suspicious of damage, just in case.

Thanks for your reply. I’ll be careful for a while and make sure it doesn’t
get overheated.

Hi there, @Verse4GotWet. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for the troubleshooting steps you've tried. I'm glad to hear that you managed to solve the issue.

Please take into consideration @Guy_'s piece of advance. When your device has come into contact with any liquid other than fresh water, you should clean it with fresh water and a soap-free cleanser and dry it with a lint free-cloth.

If you've done the above but to no avail, I'd recommend trying the steps below:

  • Clean the charging contacts on the back of your device and the pins on your charging cable using the instructions in How do I clean my Fitbit device?
  • If the error "insufficient power source" appears on your device's screen, remove other devices plugged in to your power source, or plug your device in to another source.
  • Try a different USB port or a UL-certified wall charger.
  • Check the alignment and try reconnecting your device to the charging cable. For more information, see How do I charge my Fitbit device?
  • Restart your Fitbit.
