I have had my Versa 4 for about 7 months and it is now not working.
I have looked at other posts and done what has been suggested but nothing works.
It lights up, flashes then shows the red X.
A few times it has looked like it was updating, but then goes off and repeats the process again.
It has been doing this for 3 days.

Welcome to the Fitbit community, @Elmmire!
Sad to hear that you're having an issue with your Versa 4.
If you haven't done already, I'd suggest doing a factory reset on your device and set it up from scratch.
To factory reset your Versa 4, first keep it's button pressed for around 10 seconds until you'll see the Fitbit logo flashing on it's display. Then release the button and immediately keep pressing it again until there's a circle around the Fitbit logo. Now release the button and wait until your device has restarted.
Finally, please follow the instructions provided here to set up your device:
How do I get started with Fitbit Versa 4?
I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Hello Talahthas,
Thank you for your help, I have tried this several times and it is still not turning on.
It flashes, then has the ring around the logo, then appears to update but then never turns back on.
I also don't think that it is holding a charge.
Is there anything else I can do to get it work?
Thanks,
Eleanor

Voicing in to express my feeling on my versa that decided to logo flash and red x me after the last update. Tried all the reset and update methods and still no fix. My wife’s charge did the same thing in June. I am beginning to think that Fitbit is either timebombing these or thier code get sloppy after a few revisions leaving the devices bricked. And we buy another. I am looking at alternatives because I just can’t do this every two years or less - and I get a discount but really I am paying premium Apple Watch or Samsung premium pricing and getting less.

This might work. This did work. Why is this not well documented. I tried all the other ways. This way press and hold button to get Fitbit flash logo. Release , press and hold to get Fitbit logo with a circle… worked. Thank you. Now the question - why did it flake out in the first place. I am happy. But still concerned that code is getting sloppy and causing these issues on a more consistent manner. But happy at this point. So thank you for these procedures .

Thanks for reporting back, @DHW21113., glad I could help you.
Although this tiny thing on your wrist might look like a simple gadget at first glance, it is indeed a pretty complicate device running complex software. In my long term experience it's good practice to restart those devices every now and then to keep them running without problems. I do this with my laptop, with my smart phone and with my Fitbit device as such.

Well that was short lived. Having felt the triumph last night of a Fitbit back in working order - I went to bed last night ( and having it flash multiple times in the night - I turned night mode on ). I woke up this morning with the Fitbit - solid horizontal bar ( like update or sync ) but stuck, did the soft reset /reboot and haven’t gotten it back since. No screen and a buzz when i press the side button. Not sure what to do at this point with zero screen. I guess I am back to accessing my options.

Mine is doing the exact same thing. I did the update because I couldn't get it to work . It didn't help. I have Completed all the resets with holding the button down then releasing when it buzzes. It starts flashing again. Then it goes back to the red x. I think they need to replace our watches.
