I don't remember the path I took to get here, but I'll describe it the best I can. I have an iPhone, so I'll describe it the best I can.
I was looking at the list of Settings, and there was one that said "Check for Versa 4 update." Well, I selected that option over 35 minutes ago (I think it was 7:40am CDT), and it's still checking for any updates at 8:16am CDT! It had a nearly full charge on it before I went to sleep last night, and I have both my Versa 4 off of my wrist, setting now alongside my iPhone, in hopes that the app will return SOMETHING, but I have my doubts.
I'm unsure what to do now. Checking for an update for over 35 minutes (getting longer by the minute) isn't what I expect, and I'm wary about closing the app, and then going back into it, for fear of "scrambling" all the data. Not to mention that, with it off my wrist, I'm losing the opportunity to track my steps, etc.
This is a plea for help, and I'll accept help from a Fitbit rep or a member of the Versa 4 community. Thanks for your help, whoever you are!!
Update:
This is an update to the Community.
I decided to go on with life, and closing the Fitbit app on my phone (around 8:35am CDT). I waited for a couple of minutes, then reopened the Fitbit app, and it's working correctly, the best I can tell.
I didn't notice the version of firmware that I was/am now running, so I can't tell anyone whether it was worth the wait (and the worrying). Oh well.

Hi @SJinTX - there isn't any need to check for updates, it doesn't ever work, because there won't be one found, unless you already have a prompt in the Fitbit App that there is one, so it is totally redundant. (The check is in the help & support section of the Fitbit App).
Don't do firmware updates if you have a current problem as this can make it worse, resolve the problem first.
If the watch is working fine, doing an update can cause new problems, especially if you don't know what will change.
