Hi there,
I received my versa 4 watch on 22nd Nov, 2023 and tried to update the tracker software but it keeps on failing and the fitbit app is stuck on installing status and then it ultimately fails. When the update starts, the status bar on the fitbit app just jumps to 78%. On versa4 it displays updating device for a moment and then device vibrates before displaying the error "Trying to connect..." (as depicted in attached photo)
I have tried all these suggestions:

I am using an iPhone 14 version 17.2.1 as stated I finally got the Versa 4 to update tonight. Literally put it on the charger and started the process over. Update worked but it won’t stay connected to Bluetooth. It will connect and pair for approximately 2 minutes and then disconnects and won’t reconnect.

I tried with iphone14 and also Android 13 and 14 versions. When ever it says updating device is restarting and phone is saying update failed and try again

I was having the same problem and did all the things you tried multiple times. Decided to try one last time before returning it and finally got it to work.
My Versa 4 was linked to my phone, was linked to the app and the Versa 4 was on the instruction screen. I accidently tapped sync before taping update immediately after. In effect both were trying to happen at the same time. To my surprise the update completed.
Curious to know if this works for others or if it was a fluke.

Mine Versa 4 updated yesterday also.
Probably Fitbit fixed firmware.
Fingers crossed this won't happen anytime soon...

What is the version of os you are using?
I tried multiple times of reset reinstalling app and connecting the device and Bluetooth for 2 min is disconnecting and when updating firmware watch is restarting and update is failed asking for again establish Bluetooth connectivity

I tried sync now it saying it's in sync but firmware is not getting updated.
How much time it took for an update to comppete
You haven't faced any Bluetooth issues during upgrade?

Samsung A12 running Android 13 with One UI 5.1.
Fitbit version from Google Play Store 4.04.2.11.
Versa 4 version after update is 61.200001.194.86.

Thank you for the details.. I can see the app version in Indian playstore is still 4.06.7 which is released on dec 4 th 2023 and still we were facing the issue to turn on the watch
As I purchased it on dec 6 th and from day 1 it's not working

It's not the Fitbit app version issue. I tried with plenty different versions of Fitbit not from Google Play store and the problem still stayed.
It's the Versa 4 firmware issue. You should wait a bit, different region different update release times.

All we can do is press that one button for 10 secs and it's starts with asking the language bto select
Even after restarts also so language screen

Press and hold the button for about 8 seconds it turn of, then immediately press and hold the button again, wait for the Fitbit logo to appear, when logo blinking, then press and hold the button again. When the reset starts, the clock will show the loading bar as if it were updating.
Just push the button 😀
