Yesterday, my Versa 4 started acting very strangely. The device is now stuck in an endless factory reset loop. Here's everything I know.
First, it began prompting me to setup payments with the Fitbit Wallet App. I already had payments setup using the Google Wallet app, but I attempted to follow the steps to sync wallets and the device locked up. I had to force it to restart using a long-press of the side button. The device started up and soon prompted me again. This time, the device locked up during the wallet syncing but restarted on its own.
After several repeats of the above situation, I dismissed the notification. For the next ~10 hours, my watch would vibrate and prompt me to setup payments every 30 to 60 minutes and I would dismiss it each time.
As I was going to bed, I noticed my watch had restarted itself. It came back to my watchface and I went to sleep. I noted at that time that the watch battery was at 74%.
Around 3am, I woke due to my watch vibrating as it performed another restart. This time, after fully starting up, it notified me that the watch battery was critically low (4%). I placed the watch on the charger and it restarted.
Before going back to sleep, I noticed that the watch was vibrating occasionally – unusual in the middle of the night as I have Do Not Disturb turned on – and when I check, this was due to the watch restarting itself several times. I relocated the watch to somewhere that the vibration would not keep waking me and went back to sleep.
I woke up at 6am to find the watch had factory reset itself. It was prompting me to select a language. I attempted to go through the setup process, however the process would always fail with the app opening a dialog box that said "Something went wrong."
After 3 or 4 attempts to setup the watch, I set it aside – still on the charger – to handle later. I soon heard the watch vibrate as it restarted itself again. This time it began displaying a flashing fitbit logo. Eventually I saw a brief line appear that looked like a progress bar and then the watch face changed to show a large red X. I left it plugged in and it soon vibrated again as it restarted.
The watch now seems to be stuck in some kind of cycle where it will restart itself and either flash the fitbit logo before eventually showing a red X or start up and prompt me to set it up.
I do not know what to do next. I am currently letting it sit off of the charger so that it runs out of battery.

Hi there @damionfury!
A warm welcome to the Fitbit Community!
Thank you so much for sharing with us about the experience you had with your Versa 4 which is no longer reacting and is only showing the red X or Fitbit logo.
When the Versa 4 shows a red X is normally because the update was not successfully downloaded.
Please try to do the following:

Hello @FatimaFitbit!
I appreciate you getting back to me but, as I mentioned in my post, I cannot perform the steps you have provided because the device won't complete setup after it factory reset itself.
Worse, the device no longer charges or turns on. My Fitbit Versa 4 is now completely dead.
