Versa 4 won't track my GPS data accurately

I just want to give a review...

The versa 4 has GPS. It's the reason I chose it. I've checked and double checked the mileage calculation and this tracker is off by 1/4mi every mile! So, if u walk 5mis it only registers 3.75mis. I'm very disappointed in this...

I hope this helps others...

Hi there, @Renbunny. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post about the issue with your Versa 4. I understand why you're feeling disappointed about this.

Fitbit devices use the formula below to calculate distance. Your stride length is determined by your height and sex. Steps x Stride Length = Distance Traveled

Please note when you track an activity with GPS, your device calculates your distance using GPS data rather than steps. If you begin moving before you get a GPS signal, your device calculates distance using your steps until GPS connects.

To update your stride length, track a run with GPS or measure your stride length manually. For more information, see Can I change my stride length in my Fitbit account?

For more information about GPS, see How do I use GPS on my Fitbit device?

I just bought the verse of 4 because my sense was frozen on the fitbit icon. I wasted $200 on that watch because it was out of warranty. Fitbit gave me 35% of 2 buy a new fitbit watch. since I've gotten this versa 4 I have had the same problem as you. No map! customer service keeps dropping my call. I'm sending it back and going with garmin.

I have the same issue and it is very frustrating.  My normal 4.2 mile walk around the neighborhood now registers 3.9 miles and sometimes less, so mine is not as inaccurate as yours.  Because of the mileage difference, it also reports inaccurate average speed. My stride has not changed.  My steps for my route were approximately the same for both my Versa 2 & 4.

I do not understand why the newer Fitbit Versa 4 vs. my older Versa 2 is worse.  You would think it would be "new and improved" and not "new and worse"  I am not a software programmer, but who decided to change the GPS software from the Versa 2 that worked to to something that does not work for the Versa 4? How hard would be to review the code from the Versa 2 and apply that to the Versa 4?

I cannot get the GPS mapping to work.  I click on the button before my walk and it never works.

Don't get me started on the how inaccurate the Floor tacking is now.
