Versa 4 won't track my sleep data

I have the new versa4…like many others I’m disappointed in the lack of features currently.  One big item I can’t get to work is the versa4 to recognize I’m asleep.   I was able to manually track sleep but it won’t recognize I’m asleep, isn’t tracking my heart rate, skin temp or oxygen level.  This was the main features I wanted. Any tips on getting this to work?  I’ve done everything from reinstalling, etc.

I have no issues with mine detecting sleep, so not a systemic issue. Here are a few questions…

  • Do you have previous Fitbit or other watches that detected sleep?
  • What clock face do you use?
  • Any tattoos where the watch sits on your wrist?
  • Are your watch and phone on the latest version of software/firmware?
  • When you wake do you force a sync by pulling down on the Fitbit app or do you wait for it to sync itself?
  • I assume you have rebooted everything already, but maybe try shutting down your phone, then rebooting your watch by holding the button until you see the Fitbit logo, then when it is only boot your phone and start the Fitbit app

It could just be a problem with your watch, but taking a few more troubleshooting steps may help pinpoint the issue. You can also consider doing a factory reset on your watch, then reinstalling it from scratch, but before doing something that draconian try the simple things first. If it still doesn’t work after that Fitbit support is the best option.

Hi there, @Lewarctj. Welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for trying to troubleshoot the issue with your Versa 4 before reaching out. I understand where your concern is coming from and how you must be feeling. @SunsetRunner Thank you so much for helping out!

Please note there are a few scenarios where you might see your sleep pattern (which shows your time asleep, restless, and awake) instead of sleep stages:

  • If you slept in a position that prevented your device from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely. For best results, wear your device higher on your wrist (about 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone). The band should feel secure but not too tight.
  • If you used the Begin Sleep Now option in the Fitbit app (instead of simply wearing your device to bed). For more information on automatic sleep tracking, see How do I track my sleep with my Fitbit device?
  • If you slept for less than 3 hours.
  • If your device’s battery is critically low.

For more information, see What should I know about Fitbit sleep stages?

I have done all of the above. Never had an issue with my versa2 which I upgraded to this Versa4. What other issues may be present?
