Versa stopped tracking my distance

My versa has stopped tracking miles when walking around normally. I went on a normal walk and it said I went zero miles even though my step count went up. I tracked a run and it registered the mileage from that but now it’s stuck on the mileage from the run. It won’t add the miles I’m walking during my normal day. This has not happened before. I tried restarting the watch but all that did was reset my steps to almost 0

I am having the exact same problem with my Versa 4, worked fine till yesterday but now isn't measuring distance but step count is fine. I've also restarted the watch, the app, sync completed etc but still not working

@Skdeas @Alikelly1912 This is a bug. You need to set your own stride length in the app instead of having it automatically detect stride length.

  1. From the Today tab, tap Exercise days.
  2. Tap the three dots "..." in the upper right hand corner, then tap Activity Settings, scroll down to Stride Length.
  3. Adjust your stride length.

If you're on iOS, you might have to scroll down far enough to see the Stride Length option. Android settings might look a little different.

Thank you for your help with this. Last week, my distance just randomly stopped recording ANY distance at all, yet all other metrics were fine. I've been googling all types of phrases but everything I found was more around GPS. Just found this today and I'm very happy so thank you again ☺️

I'm less happy with Fitbit and their generic replies...

Hi Heather. How would we know what our stride length is for walking? I don't want to put the wrong length on my Fitbit and mess everything up.

Yup also having the exact same problem, been on with fitbit and they're usless!

Best answer so far is to set your stride length by manually working it out by going to somewhere you're sure of the distance... like a track... yeah, like we all have a running track on our doorstep!

Hey Heather, I have been having the same issue since last Tuesday July 30th. Is this a known issue that fitbit is working on fixing? I just updated my stride to my true stride length but my versa 4 is brand new and I am considering returning it.

Has anyone set the stride length and had to fix the problem? I am relieved it seems to be a glitch with fitbit, and not my watch specifically. But Hope to have some updates soon. Im happy to set stride length if that is a fix, but it is unclear if that has solved the issue for anyone yet.

Thank you

TeamRufio I manually set my stride length and it did fix the problem. It's been working fine since then. Not sure if they intend to fix the bug so you can have your stride automatic again but it does work setting it manually

Mine was exactly as Skdeas said.

Friday 26th July 2024 was the last day it automatically tracked my distance.

Otherwise, since then, it has only been tracking the miles/km when I go for a run and deliberately press the exercise run button. Distance has always been automatic before on both my present Versa 4 and previous Versa 3.

Had to guess my stride length... and pondered whether it was toe to toe or heel to toe!! However, running stride length has been automatically generated (must be because I press the button for a run) and decided that that MUST include my foot!!! 🤣

Hope Fitbit sort this glitch soon!!

Thank you Heather for your help!!

Mine suddenly stopped working yesterday so mid-August.  Still tracking steps and activity lengths but not the mileage.
