Hi there, @KarenElder_22. Welcome to the Community Forums.

Your blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) is the percentage of your blood that’s saturated with, or contains, oxygen. The oxygen levels in your blood tend to remain relatively constant, even during exercise and sleep. For more information, see How do I track blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) with my Fitbit device?

Hope that helps.

What Fitbit models provide oxygen levels as a percentage, and not the variability graph that I get on my charge 4.  Is this a directive from any agency to prohibit this measured value, oh, ... In the USA if that matters. The variability charge seems very unhelpful. Why do I want this? To track my oxygen levels for apnea and COVID.

@Westerj   There is a chart in this Health Metrics Help article that shows which models monitor SpO2.  The SpO2 sensor is only active when you sleep.  It reports an average sleeping SpO2.  That number is reported in your Today stats on your Charge 4.  It can't 'measure or report a spot SpO2.  Only your average sleeping SpO2 (written twice for emphasis).

My background is physiology and biomedical engineering.  This is my take on the EOV graph.  Fitbit activated the SpO2 sensor, but didn't have FDA approval to report actual numbers.  So it created this (very useless) EOV graph.  I have never seen anything like it in the physiology literature.  If you need to monitor your SpO2 accurately, you should search for a true medical grade monitor.  I'm sorry, but I can't help you with that.

Thanks Laurie,   who is restricting the useful ness of the data? Is it technology limitation or does it supplant doctors role in healthcare?

I find it fascinating to observe heart rate especially impact on eating before sleep.  Seems hr doesn't drop for hours after last food.  No idea if it's related to what I eat. Apple?  Bread? Water?  That's why I want this. Also, I want to observe hr around apnea events..

This is motivation for self improvement,I picked up a Chinese fitness bands that does heart rate, blood sugar, blood pressure and other things, though it may not be fda scrutinized.

What will Fitbit be allowed to produce?

Clinical practice ( in USA)

does not seem to embrace such advances in medical technology.... Question is why not?

I’m very interested in your point but mine seems to be a reoccurring persistently with sPO READING. I was quite satisfied with my Versa 2 except for SPO2 so treated myself to a Versa 4 ai the beginning of the year and now I’m back where I was. The only thing I can think is that I have been rather unwell the last four days and spent two days in bed, still showering etc . I would be so grateful for an answer
