It is not wrong. It includes your BMR (basal metabolic rate) calorie burn, the calories you are always burning just to stay alive. These are usually more than half of daily calorie burn. And no, you cannot turn these off.
From How does my Fitbit device calculate my daily activity?

Hi,
This Mohana from India. Thanks for the reply.
I too had the same question. I had just walked 100 steps and its showing 358 calories. So I was thinking whether I need to get a replacement of my fitbit.
So if calculate BMR, too, then how can I change the settings.
And I got the fitbit only on 6th of March 2023 but I can see that calories by default set to 1300, any idea how to change these settings..
I couldn't find it in the manual nor in the videos.
Many thanks in advance.
Kind Regards
Mohana.

@MohanaPolson If you see 1300 calories burned per day before you started using it, that is your BMR based on your height, weight, sex, and age. There is no way to change this. You can look on-line for BMR calculators; you will find several and, though they vary a bit, they will all give quite similar values after you input you basic data. Of course, it will change slightly as your age and weight change.
