Versa won’t pair to Bose Soundsport wireless headphones

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have followed the steps correctly ( as Bose paired with my iPhone instantly ) but the message always says ‘connection failed ‘when I try tonpair the Versa. I have tried with on, off and pair after ‘ pair your phone if music control is not working ‘ but all times it is connection failed. The headphones say ready to pair. Advice please.

It is possible to pair a Versa to Bose Soundsport wireless.  My Versa arrived on Friday 6-July, so I am VERY new to the Versa.  But on Saturday on my 1st attempt the Bose sync'd very easily to my Versa.

I did not do anything special, and earlier today went for a 90-minute walk, with my Bose Soundsport Wireless paired to my Versa, playing 90-minutes of mp3s that I uploaded to the Versa earlier today.

To sync on the Versa I navigate to Music, click on the 'music track' I wish to play, and I get a message "Music Controls - No headphones or speaker connected". There are 3 dots in bottom left of Versa screen.  I click on those, and at the botton under 'output' is "Bose SoundSport" listed from my original pairing.  I press on that and soon I get a connection. Sometimes I need to press it a few times as it does not always sync the 1st time.

I typically have my Bose Soundsport bluetooth sync'd to my Xiaomi-Mi-4c smartphone, and to my Versa at the same time.

Sorry that I can't help more - but I can say it is possible - given it works for me.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Did you pair the Bose headphones to your phone first ? Then synch the phone to the Versa ? Then pair the Bose and Versa ?

My experience is syncing blue tooth to one's Android devices is finicky at one's most polite best, and simply non-functional at worst.

What I went through with new Fitbit Versa that might be relevant to answer your question was:

(a) could not setup Fitbit Versa with Android Xiaomi Mi-4c phone, as while phone could see Versa, it would not sync

(b) finally managed to setup Fitbit Versa with Android Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet , which had an intermittent sync with Versa (maybe 20% of the times attempted it synced). Sometimes it worked, sometimes it did not. Eventually I managed to update software on Fitbit Versa and use it

(c) removed ALL bluetooth entries (ie paring entries) from Android Xiaomi Mi-4c.

(d) was then able to sync Bluetooth in Versa intermittently to Android Xiaomi Mi-4c (maybe 20% of the time attempted).

(e) when Smartphone was NOT sync'd to any Android device, connected successfully (1st attempt) Bose Soundsport bluetooth headphone to Versa. But had no mp3 on device - so could not test audio. Switched OFF headphones

(f) next day, at home, uploaded mp3 to Versa (a different adventure)

(g) sync'd Bose Soundsport bluetooth to Versa with no problems.

Not sure if that helps, but in truth, there is no straightforward answer to your question.  With mp3 on Versa the Xiaomi-Mi-4c smartphone phone is no longer relevant wrt syncing to the Bose Soundsport headphones.

For example, currently I can not sync any devices to the Versa, so I suspect once again I will need to remove all Blue Tooth pairings.

Assuming this is not a Versa hardware problem, then either the Versa firmware, or the Fitbit Android application, need a serious fix to sort this.  In over 12 different devices with bluetooth sync to my Xiaomi-Mi-4c smartphone, and also to my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 Tablet, I have never experienced such issues in attempting a bluetooth sync.

Have you had any luck yet ?  My Bose Soundsport are pretty much syncing every attempt now with the Versa, and I've been using it for ~35-minutes every day the past week, with 17.5 minutes walking to work and 17.5 minutes walking back from work.

No ! Frustratingly the Versa won’t even connect to WiFi now. Waiting for son to come home and help.

Sorry to read of your continuing frustration here.  A key step for me in syncing the bluetooth of my smartphone to the Versa was removal all other pairings from the Smartphone list.  Possibly that helped in the Bose SoundSport bluetooth pairing to the Versa ?  < unsure >

Now that I have this working once, I find when syncing to the Bose SoundSport headphone with my Versa, I will do the following:

(a) switch on my Bose headphone.  I hear in my Bose SoundSport headphones:  "Connected to Versa classic.

(b) on the Versa I start navigating to the mp3, but invariably before I get there I hear in my Bose "Versa classic disconnected, ready to pair" .  ie. the unpairing will happen 10 seconds or less after the initial pairing.

(c) next (even thou unpaired) on Versa I navigate to my mp3 of choice (in the default Music app) and press on it. I then get the message "Music controls . No headphones or speaker connected".

(d) in the bottom left of that very same display, are 3 dots (ie " . . . " ) .  I press on the 3-dots and it takes me to a different display.  In there under "Output" is my "Bose SoundSport" listed.

(e) I then press on "Bose SoundSport" in that display.  I see a 'circle' rotating, followed by hearing in my Bose "Connected to Versa Classic".

(f)  I then very quickly navigate back to the mp3, and press on it to play.  Doing this very quickly is key here. If this is not done quickly, I will again hear "Versa classic disconnected, ready to pair"  (and I again need to press on '3-dots' in (d) above).  But if I do this quickly, I hear the mp3 play in the Bose SoundSport.

The voice quality is good. And songs in the mp3 play one after the other with no interaction needed.

The Bose SoundSport controls work well with the Vesa for adjusting volume levels.

Thank you for those details. Sounds very useful and I will put it into practice when I can get things working again - probably after deleting the Versa and starting again.

Will keep you posted. Thanks again.

The above details I provided are only applicable after the 1st successful pairing.   Possibly you have not got that far yet.

Earlier today I also paired my Versa with a second set of bluetooth headphones (Sony MBR-10) and this was very good in refreshing my memory on how to do this.

Note the guidance here on how to pair is applicable:  https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/2257

ie 1st put your bluetooth headphones in pairing mode. In the case of the Bose SoundSport, I think all you need do is switch them on.   The on your smart watch, swipe such that you see the "settings" gear icon and tap on that. Then scroll down until you see the "Bluetooth connection options" and tap on that.  Then tap on " + audio device" .  That is how I paired my Sony Headphones earlier today, and while my memory fuzzy, I believe that is how I first paired my Bose Soundsport headphones.

Good luck.

Latest issue is that I removed the Versa and tried to install it again. The iPad says it found it but has been stuck on ‘ connecting to tracker ‘ for over an hour .......

I found for the first successful pairing with my Android Smartphone and my Fitibit Versa, I had to remove all Bluetooth devices listed in my Android's Bluetooth past pairing list.  Further a Fitbit Versa restart and Android phone restart.

Currently, every-time I attempt to launch the Android Fitbit app on my Smartphone it will not start. The only way I can get the Android app to start, is to remove it, re-install from the Google Playstore, and re-enter my username and password. Then I typically get a sync within one or two tries.

However this is Android device behaviour.  I don't own any iOS devices so I am not familiar with their behaviour/functionalities wrt Bluetooth.

Sorted - had to switch the Versa off and restart. Removing the device and adding it again didn’t work. Needed the aid of 20 something son. Thanks for answering the queries.

That is good news to read !   I am also pleased that the Bose Soundsports works well with my Versa.

wrt the problem I noted that I had where it was necessary for me to uninstall and re-install on my Xiaomi Mi-4c Android Smartphone the Fitbit app every morning (in order to get the Fitbit app to work) - that problem 'went away' a couple of days ago and I have not had to re-install the Fitbit app on my smartphone the past couple of days.   Xiaomi pushed out an update to the custom Miui GUI they provide on top of Android OS on this Xiaomi Smartphone, which I installed a couple of days ago, and I suspect that may have addressed a compatibility problem with the Fitbit app < not sure thou > .
