Cannot add card to Fitbit Wallet

I'm unable to add a card to Fitbit Pay using the iPhone app.  Have tried two Chase cards, and one Amex card.

 

It goes through the verification OK, but cannot download the details into the wallet app.  The iPhone app says that it's connected to the Versa, so that's not the problem.

 

I get the attached error message. 

 

Note all three cards have been successfully added to Apple Pay on my iPhone.

 

Am I supposed to have the watch in the charger and/or connected via WiFi to add a card?  Instructions are very unclear.

I can't tell you about the Chase card but I had trouble with Amex. Found others in the Ionic forum with the same problem. Amex requires your wifi on your phone to be off. Do the card add over cellular network. Maybe your other cards are the same? I added US Bank and Capital One over wifi no problem but the Amex was tricky.

I was about to fix the issue by restarting my watch.

FWIW, I was also able to add my Amex card, even though I had WiFi enabled on my phone.

I’m getting the same error message. I’m with Bank of America. I’m not on Wifi. What is the fix?  Thanks
