Did you mean:

Authorization for personal account

ANSWERED

when i click the link in the Oauth tutorial page I keep getting

quote:

Developer information: unauthorized_client - A "Personal" application is only authorized to request access tokens from the owner of the application.

endquote:

i have my app set to personal

and I just want data from this account that I am using.

whats wrong?

i see other people having trouble with "you can only access app owner data this way"

but this is the app i set up with the account I want data for.

cant delete post, but here was the problem

have a few fitbits for a project.

logging into a different user acount in the dev.fitbit does NOT log you out of your fit.com account

it also appears that these forums use the same account as fitbit.com

so in short..

I was logged into fitbit.com with account A

I then logged into dev.fitbit with Account B

the auth process kept checking checking for account A, so apps for B could not get access using the tutorial links(because it checked if A belonged to B.. without any prompt or info about what account it was checking for ).

I then posted to the forum as Account A

I logged out on fitbit.com and logged in as account B

it now works

come back to forum to realize the forum also used account A so I just made another forum handle for B

in short

dev.fitbit is a completely separate login system from everything else, including the forum.

Loggin into dev does not affect your fitbit.com login status
