Can fitbit data be imported into browser apps?

I'm developing a browser based app in PHP that will run on mobile device browsers allowing users to create an account and store information about themselves.

I was wondering if there is a means to capture fitbit data and post it a browser based app or if a native app needs to be developed for each platform to access the data?

A php-served browser site works fine (once you work out how to handle OAUTH2).
