Heart rate data

Hi,

I am looking to do a project and would like to collect heart rate data for every half hour of the day on specific days. Is this possible? At the moment when i download the data it is a massive set of files with minute by minute data which is hard to analyse. I am hoping there is a setting to condense it and make it more specific to what i am looking for?

Thanks for your help

Hi @Nesu

We recommend you download the data using the Fitbit Web API.  The link to the documentation is https://dev.fitbit.com/build/reference/web-api/.  We do not support download the heart rate data in 30 min increments.  Instead, we offer 1sec, 1min, 5min and 15min increments.  At a high-level, here are the steps you'll need to follow:

  1. You'll need to build an application using the Fitbit Web API and have the user consent to share their data with your application.  We use OAuth2 as the mechanism for users to consent to share their data with your application.
  2. To get incremental heart rate data, you will need to request access to the Intraday data set.  The Issue Tracker form is located on https://dev.fitbit.com/build/reference/web-api/intraday/.
  3. Once intraday has been enabled for your client ID, you'll want to implement the Get Heart Rate Intraday endpoint.

The data is only available after the user syncs their device with the mobile app.  And, the device and mobile app will automatically sync every 15 minutes IF the mobile app is running on the mobile device.
