In Android, how do I transfer users back to my app after the OAuth screen?

I've spent weeks trying to figure this out. Originally I was using a webview but have switched to Chrome custom tabs since Webviews are prohibited. The only solution I can think of deeplinking back to my app from the redirect page, but this absolutely does not work at all. Is there any sort of detailed tutorial on how to get this working?
