Invalid auto_detected sleep logs

Hi Fitbit team,

We recently received an unusual auto_detected sleep log from the fitbit sleep api. After checking the fitbit app, it appears that somehow this sleep log got synced. How does this happen?

Hello there, @hi_SG !

It is unusual for the timestamps of that sleep log being recorded that way. I'd like to bring this up to our engineering team, but is it possible to retrieve some information from the user on that specific date? For example, was the user sleeping while on a plane flight that passes over a date line / time zone?

Hi, we have confirmed with the user that they were not travelling during this period.

We added logs on our end and have observed that more and more users are syncing similar invalid sleep times, with at least 3 different users in the last 2 weeks.

Examples of the invalid sleep times:

  • startTime is 2 Sep 10:12:00.000, but endTime is 2 Sep 09:29:00.000
  • startTime is 14 Sep 12:29:00.000, but endTime is 14 Sep 06:47:30.000
  • startTime is 4 Sep 12:47:30.000, but endTime is 4 Sep 04:17:00.000

Could you please expedite the investigation? Thanks.

Thanks for confirming.
I'd like to continue this in the private support (support ticket via Issue Tracker) since I will be needing the following (personal) information to proceed the investigation:

  • User IDs that experienced the issue
  • User screenshots of the mobile app that’s showing the recorded sleep data (including the graph to see the sleep stages and its duration)
  • Endpoint syntax you’ve used to get the response logs
  • And the full response logs results
