Recording when user checks their step count?

Hi all. Researcher here. Curious if anyone's found a way to log when/how long a user checks their step count on any of the Fitbit devices?

 

Background: the prompting, tracking, and feedback tech of the newer Fitbits are great but require the user to check their step count progress on a semi-frequent schedule to make meaningful behavior adjustments. I'm interested in seeing when users actually check their step counts and for how long they do so.

 

I imagine this would be measuring when the screen is activated and when it turns off. Is it possible to access this data via the API? Any tips would be appreciated!

Fitbit devices do not log this information and Fitbit app telemetry is not shared with third-parties.
