Did you mean:

Silent Alarms

ANSWERED

Is there a way (or an API) which would allow my MacBook calendar events to create silent alarms on my fitbit so I can get a notification when I have a meeting?  I checked out http://ifttt.com hoping for a fitbit API to create these silent alarms - but I didn't see one.

Thanks!

Something like:  IF new calendar event THEN create FITBIT:SILENT ALERT

It would have to be added on the channel by Fitbit. There are limitations on the number of alarms you can set per tracker (I believe its 6) as well as alarms are not updated on the tracker until the next time it successfully syncs.

Fitbit currently do not allows to control silent alarm via Fitbit API. We don't have any plans to support this feature.

Thanks for the reply.  I would think this would a great selling point for the fitbit.  Since I am wearing it all the time it would nice to remind me of meetings.  Oh well, I will have to remember to do this manually.  Stinks.

@ibahdanau Isn't that what the API-Devices-Add-Alarm API call is for?

Ops.

Yes Michael you're right. I guess I misread original question. We do support setting alarms via Fitbit API.

Here is valid link that explains how you can do it: https://wiki.fitbit.com/display/API/API-Devices-Add-Alarm

I guess what I meant above that we do not allow thirdparty applications to trigger buzzer via API.

@Michael , thanks for pointing it out.

Sorry for confusion.

@rfoush You can head on over to the Feature Request forum, and look and see if someone else has already suggested it adding Alarm setting to the Fitbit IFTTT channel. If they have, vote for it to show your support. If not, go ahead and add it.

What I am trying to do is when I have a calendar event on my MacBook, I would like the fitbit to vibrate 15 mins prior to the meeting as a reminder.   Any thoughts on how I could accomplish this?

THANKS!

I would just want it to add the alarms for the day, which would be less than 6 ususally.  Any idea who to lobby to get more APIs added into IFTTT.com? The only output is to update your weight.  Seems lame.  Why not update the alarm?
