Why doesn't Fitbit begin the day with the allowable calories for weight maintenance (assuming one is not trying to lose weight), then add to that calories burned in exercise and hold that number all day? For example, if I need 2000 calories to maintain my weight, then I burn 1000 calories walking and biking, it seems like I should have 3000 calories available for eating. The way it is working, when I sit and watch tv or work on the computer in the evening, my available calories begin to drop significantly (perhaps 60-70 calories per hour). That makes it difficult to plan what I should eat during the evening in order to consume the right number of calories for the day.

Hi
There's a setting on the food log page (computer / fitbit.com / account) which can be changed to increase the accuracy.
Change setting on Food Log Page
On the Food Log page, standard a setting is used to base the calories allowed on personal history, when being more or less active the calories can increase or decrease alot.
Change to sedentary when desired to increase the accuracy, when being more active, the calories to eat will increase.
