Calories counted is confused

Hello! Here's something that confounds me...

I did a longer walk today than I did yesterday.

However, my FitBit Zip is showing that I burned more calories yesterday than I did today.

What makes this even more strange is that my walk today was harder... outside, with more hills & definitely more sweating.

Yesterday was all on inside on my treadmill... no hills, easier pace.

So why does my FitBit Zip show I burned more calories on yesterday's shorter, easier, walk than on today's harder walk?

Thanks for any insight into this! 🙂

You're switching between talking about 2 different things: calories burned for the day, or calories specifically on the 2 walks.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

Here is my question again, phrased a bit differently...

FitBit said I used LESS calories on a day where I walked MORE compared to another day where I walked less.

How can that be?
