Does a Fitbit wear out?

I took a long walk on Sunday. The "Map My Walk" app on my phone showed 9.8 miles, while Apple health, also on my phone, showed 9.6 miles. My Fitbit Zip only have my 9.3 miles.
The next morning, I walked on the treadmill for 2 miles, and the Zip only counted 1.94, and that included all the extraneous walking in getting up, dressing, going to the bathroom, kitchen, walking to the treadmill, etc.
Do the gyroscopes wear out in the trackers?

Hi, @Bobselectric , there are really two issues here -- steps and distance.  So the first thing to do would be to test whether your Zip is still counting your steps accurately.  To do that you should go outside wearing your Zip normally and walk exactly 100 steps, counting your steps as you walk, then check how many steps your Zip counted.  Fitbit aims for trackers to be 95% accurate, so you should see a number between 95 and 105.  If you do, your Zip is still counting accurately.

In that case, you may need to adjust your stride length to get your distance most accurate (distance = steps * stride length).  There is some information on how to do that here .

I hope this helps!
