Dropping steps

For some reason, once my Fitbit zip goes over 14,000 steps, it zeroes out . I had 20000+ steps 4 days in a row but when I synced to my phone it came up as zero for all the days.

Hi there @Ksaporito. Good to see you in the Fitbit Community! 🙂

I'm sorry that your dashboard isn't showing the correct amount of steps reflected.

Are you by any chance logging activities manually? If you do this, the data you're entering might be overriding the data gathered from your tracker directly which may result in removing steps. If you've been doing this, you can go to the Activities section if you're on your computer or to the Track Exercise section if you're on your phone and delete the activities you've logged and see if this makes any difference.

Also, this can be caused by your tracker rebooting for having the battery loose inside. To fix this, open up the back of your tracker, remove the battery and you will notice a metal spring there. Lift it up with your finger nail to make sure that whenever you put the battery in, it will not fit loose and close it. After that, use your tracker as you would normally do and see if this helps.

Let me know how it goes!

I'm not manually entering activities. I tried removing the battery and it seemed to start counting the steps, but now the time is off. If I try to sync it , it zeroes out. It is several years old, maybe it's  time to replace it.

Thanks for getting back @Ksaporito!

I see... that does sound strange but if after syncing it, it zeroes out, something might be wrong with it. I would recommend getting in touch with the Support Team for them to take a deeper look and help you out to see what are your options.

Anything else you may need, let me know. I'll be happy to help!

My issue is each day shows the correct amount of step, over 10K each day, and some days 11 or 12...but then the total is under 60K for seven days....even at the end of the day.  I add them up and its over 70K for seven days...but the total is off!  any ideas????
