FYI: My fitbit zip won't register

This is an fyi.  I bought a fitbit zip last year.  It must be an older model, because it won't sync or register on my Samsung A50 phone. I was asked by customer service to download fitbit connect, but it doesn't list the fitbit zip.  What the customer service person told me is that it may be an older zip model and that fitbit connect will no longer be supported.

When I try to pair it with a phone app, there is a zip listed but I go through the steps, but it keeps asking would you like to try it again? So would I be able to pair it with an older phone is should I just give up and simply use it to count steps? The time is off.

I wouldn't give up on connecting through phone app too quickly.  Sometimes it seems to take several tries to find and connect.  Maybe reboot phone first.  And move any other bluetooth sources as far away as possible.

But maybe this won't help.

This hasn't helped. I spoke to the customer service person and although it
shows through the phone, it doesn't seem to work. He told me that the
device may be too old and no longer supported on the fitbit connect. Do I
have to use the dongle when I'm trying to connect to the phone?

Thanks

Fitbit connect is only for connecting to computer, not phone.

One question would be if you are sure it is  actually a Zip and not another model.  If not really sure, you could look through pictures here, and click on "More products", or just try connecting it as other Fitbit models to see if any do connect.

Hello! I was able to sync my Fitbit Zip to my iPhone 13 last November without any issues whatsoever. I will say that I just purchased a new Fitbit Zip for my father for Christmas and when I put the battery in, everything functioned but it also said “ERR” on the actual Fitbit. When trying to sync to his Samsung, it stated multiple times that it could not sync the Zip to his device. I have no idea how to get rid of the “ERR” that displays on the actual Fitbit along with the time, steps, face and calories burned?? I know these were made in 2012 and I’ve purchased two for myself since then. They definitely work with newer phones. As far as this new little “ERR” message, I wish someone could help. Resetting hasn’t done anything 😞
