Fitbit Zip batteries

I have had my Fitbit Zip since the end of October, and it needs a second fresh battery.  It looks like the firmware is current, but I am not getting the 4-6 months of battery life as expected. At this point, I wish I had bought a rechargeable fitbit. Anyone else having this issue?

Well just tested mine w new battery... Dead 😞

Now the big question, go with Fitbit zip again ( like size, cost, app); up grade in fitbit family; look to another system??

I'm pleased to read about replacement stories, but as I know this was dropped last week that's not an avenue for me.

Back to free give away pedometer... Good luck w yr battery problem, maybe you are a candidate for a replacement piece too

I emailed them and they sent me a Fitbit Flex that has worked great. Just
send them an email. They didn't respond, I just received notification that
a new one was sent. They also didn't request for the other one back. You
just need your receipt if you have it. Pretty great!

I had my FitBit Zip two days and the battery died! I bought a replacement one (CR 2025) and it died after 2 1/2 days! My firmware is up to date. Anyone else with this issue?

I replaced my battery Friday, and when I put it on this morning, my battery was totally dead 😐 It was a brand new one I'd just bought too.

I bought a zip Dec. of 13.  Battery lasted until Mar. 14.  Once I changed the battery, it became a game, constantly changing batteries.  The first one lasted four weeks, then it would be every couple of days.  Fitbit tried to help, telling me to check for updates, having me make check the battery compartment to make sure the contacts were in proper position.  I tried everything, nothing worked, they then sent me a new fitbit.  This was in early Aug. and now I'm back to square one.  Original battery died, replaced it with a new one, and it lasted of less then a week and never gave me a warning the battery was low, it just died.  I checked for update, my fitbit is up to date.  My next fitbit or other brand of tracker will be a rechargeable one.

Hello everyone! I'm sorry that your post went without being addressed for so long, but I'll be glad to help.

Problems with Batteries draining, low battery notices showing and Zips turning off may be a connection issue between the battery and the tracker. To correct it, take out the battery and you should see a metal spring in the battery compartment, check if the metal spring is making contact with the battery and it is lined. Here is how it should look like:

As @Mokey41 has mentioned, All-day sync and Live-data can impact your trackers and mobile devices battery life, so unchecking the option for All-day sync will help. You can get more details about types of syncing here.

@bohfive an outdated version of your Fitbit Zip can impact your battery life, you can check for updates through the computer or mobile device, here's how to do it.

When your Zip shows a low battery sign, it means that the battery needs to be replaced, a fresh 3V coin battery, CR2025 will need to be put in; open the Zip with the door tool and replace the old battery, like this:

I will check that, but I have also learned to ignore the low battery symbol. It will go away in a few minutes. When it lasts a half an hour or more, then I know. Have even gotten emails from Fitbit saying change the battery, but gotten a few more weeks from it.

Hey there @Tobster111 ! I'd recommend to check if the inside spring may be bent or if your battery is nice and cozy within the tracker; a loose battery connection can be fixed by straightening the inside spring.

I've done the whole check the spring.  I can understand this being a probem but it only seems to happen after changing the intial battery. I went htroughthis with my first zip and as soon as I had to change my battery on this one, the problem reoccurred.

I bought mine at CVS I would think that Walmart, Target, Home Depot or Lowes should carry them.

This seems to be a big problem with the zip.  The company has replaced mine twice.  I now keep the bluetooth on my phone off, this will prevent the constant syncing.  I have had my newest zip about a month  We shall see how it goes.

I've disconnected my USB dongle until I need it, and unpaired the Zip from my mobile, now the battery symbol has stopped flashing and my Zip is back to normal.

Why does the original battery last a long time and why are subsequent ones drained by Bluetooth? I think it is a software glitch caused by 'resetting' the Zip when the first battery is removed.

I bought brand new batteries for mine 4 days ago and it is already saying I need a new battery! I have had my Zip for a couple of years and the battery lasted a few months.......now it just will not last a week? These batteries are not cheap!

Hey there @jaydear ! I'd recommend to update your tracker through a computer here also through Android here and iOS here. Another thing to consider is that an outdated app may not give you the correct information, please update the Fitbit App through iOS here and Android here

@Doglover18 There is a chance your battery is draining because of a loose connection; I'd recommend to check if the metal spring inside the Zip's battery compartment is bent and if your battery is nice and cozy inside Smiley Happy. Here's how it should look:
