I just bought my fitbit two days ago it's not been keeping up with the correct syncing and tonight I just got an email that my battery is low. Do the batteries run out that fast?

Welcome to the Community @MelissaT4! Oh! yous Zip is pretty new to giving you these issues. But don't worry, let me suggest you to replace the battery and verify that there is proper contact between the battery and the battery contacts inside your Zip tracker. You can do this by opening the battery door of your Zip, removing your battery, and ensuring that the silver battery tab located in the lower right half of your tracker is flush with the white box outline in the tracker housing. The process can be followed here: http://imgur.com/a/l1KwH

Now for the syncing issue, let me suggest you to follow the tips on @AlejandraFitbit post to fix that.

Let me know how it goes! Cat Happy
