Is the Zip worth continuing to use?

I purchased a Zip a few weeks ago and have had nothing but issues with it. Within days, it needed a new battery (after installing a new one when I got it). On installation of a new battery, it didn't reset the steps to zero, so the next day it just added the steps to the previous--so I had over 35k steps logged for a day! Nice if it were true, but it wasn't. The display on the device often indicates low battery (after the new one was installed just days ago) and the battery indicator on the app alternates all day between flashing that it's low (like 25%) to saying that it's 100%. Now, it seems to be tracking steps just fine, but the miles aren't being tracked--for today, I have over 9k steps, but just 0.02 miles. And the time shown on the device is off by over an hour. I've taken the battery out and made sure the terminals are positioned correctly, but it's still not syncing with accurate data. And quite often, taps on the screen either do nothing or require multiple taps to get anything to show. I'm pretty much ready to just trash this thing, but hoping there's at least some other step I can take to make it useable and reliable.

Hi, @newpealand! I'm so impressed you were able to find a Zip - they were discontinued back in 2019. Hopefully someone can help you out. If you're looking for another device, the One was also dearly loved as a clip-on device, but also discontinued. I know people still use them, though. For a current device, the Inspire 3 also has clip-on functionality. Good luck with your Zip if you continue to try to use it!

It's working a bit better today, making me less inclined to trash it, but I am considering upgrading to an Inspire just to avoid more headaches with this one. It's frustrating how little can be done to troubleshoot data issues.

I'm surprised you were able to find a Zip. I got my beloved Zip years ago, then Fitibt quit supporting it, people couldn't get theirs to synce anymore. I couldn't unless I took the battery out daily. I put my Zip away and since had gotten a Samsung phone I started using Samsung Health app. I don't have to have anything besides my phone for count steps, calories, miles, map workouts, etc. I've used Samsung Health for years now but thinking about getting a Fitbit tracker. I still have my Zip and got it out yesterday to compare steps, calories etc with my Samsung Health using my phone. When I was using the Zip years ago the battery would last for 3-4 months, putting 20,000+ steps on daily. This morning my Zip said the battery was down to 25%, I put in a new battery and within a couple of hours the Fitbit app was telling me it was at 50%. I uninstalled the Fitbit app and am continuing with my test. Since Fitbit doesn't support the Zip anymore I am considering the Inspire 3 as I can get a clip for it or the Charge 4 as that is what my sister has. I tried it yesterday, it's alright but then I'm so use to Samsung Health it's hard to find something I like better. Sure, I have to carry my phone with me all of the time but that's not a problem anymore after these years of using it, no syncing, all information is right there all of the time, can track foods, weight and such. Good luck if you continue with the Zip, it was a great little tracker for it's time.
