Life distance badge not adding up mileage

My lifetime distance badge has been stuck at Italy 736 miles since June. My next badge is 990 miles and the amount to achieve it keeps going up and down rather than just going down as I walk more. No steps have been added manually.

Thanks for stopping by @JacUK! This sounds odd. To further help you I have a couple of questions:

  1. Are you using a third party app?
  2. Are you manually logging any activity?
