Hi,
Last night at about 6pm I took off my zip - it was at 2,500 steps roughly.
I woke this morning to find lots of congratulation emails from Fitbit on earning my 40,000 50,000 60,000 steps, etc.
It turns out my zip is now counting steps like a stopwatch. Looking at last night's statistics it counted over 65,000 steps between 6pm and midnight when it was just sitting on the side.
I picked it up just now and sure enough it was accuring steps while I was holding it in the palm of my hand - it was like a stop watch - only the steps were building up faster than one a second.
I have now taken the battery out, as it was the only way to stop it. What has gone wrong with it? Can it be fixed? And how do I get those ridiculous statistics wiped off my account? My highest in one day should be 20,000 steps. There's no way I can ever top 70,000 in a day!
I love my fitbit and have had it just over 7 months and use it everyday. I did wonder if it was a Fitbit software glitch, or is it just my little zip that's doing it?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

I would remave the battery for 10 seconds, then reinsert, this will restart the tracker.

Thanks. I did this yesterday morning and while it reset the zip and fixed the counting problem my stats are still saying that I walked 75,000 steps on Sunday night. So my stats are inaccurate and can't be changed and I guess there is nothing to stop the same thing happening again in the future. Oh well.
