New Fitbit Zip, new battery, after only 1 week, I'm getting "low battery" warnings. The same thing happened with my previous/older Fitbit Zip, I thought it was the device, now it seems like I bought a new Zip for nothing.

What do you mean a new Fitbit Zip? It was discontinued over 6 years ago.

I bought a new, sealed in the box, a Blue Zip from the website Mercari, in
June 2022. Someone evidently bought one new and never used it and had it
for sale. It is my favorite type of fitbit, so I was glad to buy it. I
set it up in late August and immediately started to get "low battery"
warnings, just like on my older fitbit Zip.

It's not Zip's problem. I think it's the app that it is draining it. I used the Zip for many years, then switched to Samsung Health on my Samsung phone, no watch or tracker needed. Yesterday I got my old Zip out to use it to compare with something else. Battery use to last for 3-4 months years ago. I put in a new battery this morning and within a few hours Fitbit app tells me battery is 50%. I uninstalled the Fitbit app and am continuing with my comparison. Fitbit doesn't support the Zip anymore.
