Zip not syncing and incorrect step count

I've noticed for the last several weekly reports it'll tell me something like I had 432 steps on Thursday and 0 the rest of the week.  Clearly this is not correct.  I tried a new battery, but that didn't fix anything.  I got a message to upload new software couple weeks ago.  I tried.  It crashed and gave out a long crash report.  I don't see a why to upload a file.  I tried to take a screen shot of the beginning of it, but can't see a way to upload that either.  I just tried the take the battery out, wait 10 seconds, and then put it back.  Nothing shows up on the screen.  I think it's died.

Awesome help @Ozzie65! Smiley Very Happy Welcome to the Forums @pcolema! I really appreciate your answers and feedback about your Zip tracker.

In this case, I would recommend checking the metal spring inside the Zip's battery compartment. Sometimes your tracker will have battery issues when this is bent. Here is a picture of how it should look like:

Let me know if after this your screen works again. Regarding your Weekly Report, please make sure that you have synced the Sunday, before the report is sent out.

If you are having difficulties updating your tracker, take a look at the help article Why can't I update my Fitbit device?

I hope this helps, keep me posted! 😉

Hi @pcolema - A couple of questions... 1) How old is your Zip. 2) You mentioned that your weekly report showed 432 steps on Thursday, etc. What did the app show? Did the tracker display show an accurate number of steps? Have you tried a new battery?

I’m not sure how old it is. Several years. So might just have died.

I only have it sync to my laptop with the thing that plugs in. I do not want it on my iPhone. The number was not accurate. It had 0 for all the other days. That’s not possible as I was up and doing things all of those days - not sick in bed or such. And it’s in my pocket all the time during the day.

Yes, we put in a new battery, and it didn’t help. My husband also tested the battery that had been in it with a battery tested, and it was good.

Thanks!

Once I pushed the positive one in, that did it.  Just holding the battery without putting the cover on the smiling face came up!  I was traveling and didn't get a chance to try to fix it till today.  Thank you!!!
