Zip over counting steps

I've removed my battery almost daily to make my Zip stop counting steps that go into the 100,000s.  What is the problem?  This is my second Zip with the same problem and I'm ready to crush it in a vise and buy anyting else!!  Something is wrong and Fitbit has to make this work.

Hello @djclysdale, welcome aboard to our Community. I curious to know if have you noticed if your Zip is counting steps even when you are not wearing it?

Certainly is not an expected behavior from the Zip. So If you have removed the battery to make it stop counting the steps, basically you have tried a restart. Although I would recommend to take the battery out for at least 10 seconds and put it back on again to see if the issue continues.

The other suggestion I can share with you would be to set up your tracker as a new device on your Fitbit account. To learn more a bout this on Android, Windows or Fitbit Connect; take a look at this post.

If you are using iOS these is what you need to do:

  1. On the Fitbit app for iOS dashboard, tap the Account tab.
  2. Tap Set Up a Device.
  3. Choose your tracker and follow the onscreen instructions to continue.

Keep me posted how it goes, I'll be around if you need more help.

Hi there @iRosey, let me give you a warm welcome to our Fitbit Community. If your battery shows sign of draining the charge, pleas e make sure the battery is making proper contact. If you need more help with this take a look at this post kindly shared by @Rich_Laue.

Note the battery of the Zip should last around 6 months, so if my previous recommendation did not help to resolved the issue, try with the restart I mentioned on my other post. Which is just matter of taking out the battery for 10 seconds.

See you around, I'll be here if the issue persists.
