A warm welcome to our new friends @JulianneH @ccmflores! Thank you so much for helping @SunsetRunner! Robot winkPlease know that your Zip will last depending on the care and usage you give to your tracker but I have had my Zip for almost three years now and it is working perfectly.

@ccmflores my best advise here would be to verify that there is proper contact between the battery and the battery contacts inside your Zip tracker. You can do this by opening the battery door of your Zip, removing your battery, and ensuring that the silver battery tab located in the lower right half of your tracker is flush with the white box outline in the tracker housing. The process can be followed here.

I hope this helps, let me know if you have questions! Woman Wink

I've had my Zip since 2012 and still working like a champ.  The problem is consistently with the exterior clip, I've found.  The tip comes off and the plastic ripped.  Though I've had the device since 2012, I'm probably on my fifth or sixth clip - and that adds up. This is a big problem that I really wish they'd pay more attention to.

In my office we use fitbit zips for a health incentive. We get varied lifespans, but the average seems to be between 1-2 years. I'm on my 5th zip in 3 years, but there's a lady in my office who's still on her original. Everyone else has had to replace them.

Hi there @oneclickaway, good to see you around again and I've noticed you have not received a proper welcome to our Community. So let me give you a warm welcome although a bit late. Robot wink

I've seen these cases in a small group of people and it will depend on different factors I believe. I had my original Zip for at least two years until the battery ran out; but I'm sure if I replace the battery it will start running again. My point with this is that our Fitbit Zip is one of the most reliable trackers and this is not limited to the Zip only, but with all our products. Before we released a product, we take measures for several months to run tests and make sure it will work and comply with our users needs on their daily routine. In this case it would be good to know what type of issues were presenting the Zips from your work you have mentioned. I know this issue is not to take lightly since our devices are made to stand up to the sweatiest workout.

One of the most common issues that I have seen, is the tracker loose battery connection and as you know, this is related to the battery inside springs that by accident or excessive pressure on the back of the Zip, might get bent, being one of the reasons for different issues. Although we have to consider that we are talking as well of electronic devices and we have to keep present that some defects will arise that cannot foreseen in the earliest tests of the trackers, for the same reason you have our full support for any additional help using one of many contact channels we have available.

If you have more questions, let me know. I'll be around.

Thanks for responding Roberto, but I wasn't talking about battery lives, I was talking about how long until the fitbit stops working properly or dies altogether. Unfortunately, at least in my office, we aren't seeing any longevity for these products.

Hi there @oneclickaway, yes you are right, it was just an example of the most common reasons when a Zip stops working, since the scenario I mentioned before about the battery bents may be the cause of other issues in the future, like the ones you mentioned on your post. But in terms of how long it should endure your Zip it will  be hard to tell, since as I mentioned in the previous post, there are many factors that can affect the lifespan of the trackers.

Thank you again for your feedback and my apologies if my example caused any confusion.

I am new to the forum. I've had my fitbit for almost 2 years, still going. It stopped working today but the battery spring contact advice above (regarding the white box when taking the battery out) worked and is back in business.
