blinking battery symbol

It seems like my batteries last no time before dying.  A few days back, the battery symbol showed up as a picture of a battery with line drawn through it.  My phone app said it was at 100%.  The next day, it had died and had no info on the face of my zip.  So I just changed the battery about a week ago and that same symbol showed up yesterday.  Today the symbol is blinking.  What does this mean? Why won't the batteries last?

I'm having the same problem. Only changed my battery two days ago and already it's showing as being on medium.
