fitbit zip not counting MINUTES!!!!

i AM so very frustrated!   I have spent the last few days in a fitbit bingo game where minutes matter..  I have not had any more then 5 minutes register even after over an hour of walking!  I have two fitbit zips that I did purchase used and put new batteries in them and they are BOTH doing the exact same thing!  I may as well forget fitbit and go to APPLE WATCH because this is NOT what I want and or need.  I need something that will work and if this is not going to work then there is no reason to be here.
